My Home

Welcome to my website. You’ll find various bits of information about herbal medicine in general, where I practice, how a consultation happens, how the herbs are given and what workshops I have coming up.

I don’t have a contact page as I’d be completely rubbish at using it, I’ll post if I have anything interesting coming up.

There is a blog section which I mainly ignore but do sometimes write about herbs I’m growing, herbs I’m planting or harvesting, things I’m making, things I’m studying and any other herb based subjects that catch my attention.

My Practice

First off: I’m not a homeopath or an aromatherapist, I’m a herbalist, not the same thing at all. No shade on those disciplines, but it’s not my bag. My medicines are extracts of whole plants not the memory of a plant captured in water or extracted essential oils.

I practice Western Herbal Medicine which is distinct from other traditions you may have heard of – TCM or Ayurveda – which originate from other parts of the globe. Western Herbal Medicine is the traditional medicine of the British Isles, with a nod to the colonial spice trade of the old Empire.

I have lots of tools at my fingertips, not least a knowledge of many ologies, but of course the plants do most of the heavy lifting.

Thank goodness for the herbs I say, frequently. Very often I’ll be listening to a lovely patient talking (all my patients are lovely) or thinking about my lovely patient and looking at my dispensary (all the herbs lined up on the shelves, neatly) and one will jump out and insist on being included. They’re always right so I rarely argue.

Of course that ‘intuition’ is built on years of study and familiarity with the plants, their actions, their contraindications and sometimes it’s easier to let it come without conscious thought.

Currently I can be found practising online. I am working on a physical clinic, but it’s taking slightly longer than I thought to manifest.
